Department of Fashion Design at Dev Bhoomi Group of Institutions (DBGI) is offering an online course in ‘Boutique Management’. The course will help students develop the knowledge of the boutique or outlet and arrangement of resources as per space and customer profile. This Boutique Management Course will also help students to develop the ability to independently interpret the relationship between design, fabric, market, colour, and figures. After the completion of the course, the students will be able to make patterns of Blouses, Skirts, Salwar, Kameez, different types of tops, etc. Along with these tactics, the students will also be learning the concepts of marketing and customer handling under the course.

Objective of the Course

The course aims to provide students with basic knowledge in the domain of Boutique Management and to train them with the nuances in the field so that they can emerge as the proficient professional with an adequate knowledge base and competent skills.

Highlights of the Course 

  • It will be a Six-Weeks long course which will be conducted through Microsoft Teams.
  • To take admission in the course the student must have passed 10+ 2 or its equivalent examination in any stream conducted by a recognized Board/University/Council
  • Class duration will be 1-2 hrs., each depending upon the subject and the topic.
  • Classes will be Six (6) Days/Week.
  • Classes will be held by highly reputed and talented Fashion Design faculty of Dev Bhoomi Group of Institutions.
  • The course content involves Six (6) units which consist of topics –
UNIT 1 ·         Fashion Design and Illustration

·         Colours wheel with warm colors.

·         Colours (theory)

·         Primary, Secondary and Tertiary colors.

·         Fabric painting.

·         Monochromatic colours, Polychromatic colours, Complimentary colours, Achromatic colours, Cool colours, Warm colours, Tints/shades/tones.

·         Basic prints and applications

UNIT-II ·         Garment construction & Pattern making

·         Introduction to pattern making, terminology, tools and equipment’s

·         Introduction to sewing machines, types and their parts–functions

·         Introduction to measurement and its importance

·         Fabric preparation for garment construction, principles of layout

·         Drafting of basic bodice, skirts and sleeve

·         Introduction to sewing techniques likes seams, tucks, pleats, gathers and fasteners

·         Different types of Necklines, Collars, Sleeves, Pockets, Placket, Finishes

UNIT-III ·         Introduction to textile and yarn

·         Classification of Yarn fiber

·         Fabric construction

·         Stain removal using different solution

·         Tie-dye process

·         Block printing

·         Stencil design

UNIT-IV

 

·         Surface Ornamentation

·         Hand embroidery stitches

·         Traditional embroidery stitches

·         Zari and Zardosi Stitches

  • Students will be provided home assignments, questionnaires, tests, which will be checked by the respective faculties to guide them better.
  • There will be approximately Two (2) projects assigned in total for the Course. Any technique required in an assignment will be discussed in class.
  • The evaluation of the course will be based upon the scheduled completion and the grades attained by the students in the assignment. All projects will be evaluated on the following criteria:
  • Creative and Original approach to solve the problem.
  • Sharply presented final product.
  • Strong craftsmanship in constructing the artworks.
  • Completion of the project on a scheduled due date.
